Overview

In Islamic law (Shariah), offering a returns or refund policy is recommended (mandoob). While a completed, defect-free sale is technically binding once parties separate, Islam strongly encourages leniency, honesty, and mutual consent. Sellers must accept returns and refund money if an item has a hidden defect or was misrepresented, as keeping money for a faulty product is unlawful.

Core Principles in Islamic Trade

Option of Condition (Khiyar al-Shart): Buyers and sellers can mutually agree during the contract to include a return window (traditionally up to three days or more) to test or inspect the item.

Transparency of Defects: Sellers must disclose any known flaws; hiding a defect invalidates the fairness of the price.

Leniency (Musamah): Hadiths praise the trader who is easy-going when buying, selling, and asking for payment or returns.

Legal Compliance: Islamic jurisprudence dictates that merchants must obey the consumer and commercial laws of the country they operate within regarding mandatory refund windows

Only regular priced items may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.

Practical Rules for Returns

Defective or Damaged Goods: Full refund or replacement is obligatory because the buyer paid for a sound product.

Change of Mind: Not inherently mandatory to accept back under strict Shariah unless stipulated at the sale, but accepted as good customer service.

Hygiene and Perishables: Items like food, custom-made goods, or unsealed personal care products are traditionally exempt from standard return scopes unless flawed.

Shipping returns

To return your product, you should mail your product to: {physical address}.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.

If you are returning more expensive items, you may consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
